The 13th annual Yorkeys Knob Festival held at the weekend saw perfect weather conditions and thousands gather for celebrations, dancing, singing, games and good food.
The highlight of the festival each year is the crowning of royalty, the King and Queen of the Knob.
2017 saw one crown bestowed to none other than our resident Yorkeys Knob Police Beat Senior Constable Mathew Rohde.
Whilst there has been quite a bit of banter from his colleagues on the northern beaches, Mathew said it was a nice surprise to be recognised for his efforts.
“I’ve been living and working in the Yorkeys Knob community for the past six years and having this recognition reflects on the good relationships between police and the residents”, Senior Constable Rohde said.
“Given that I am now officially King of the Knob my colleagues can call me His Royal Highness.”
Whilst I suspect there may need to be a royal crown resizing as his head swells, his new Queen, Lorrie Williams was rewarded for her volunteering efforts over the past twelve years.
Congratulations to the King and Queen of the Knob!
